Gabby Taylor

Within New Student and Family Programs and Student Engagement and Campus Life, Gabby Taylor has held several key student leadership positions, including Orientation team member, marketing assistant, and project manager. She is also a writing Intern for VT Magazine.

That “Things to do” weekly feature in the Student Edition of VT News? That’s Gabby Taylor’s work. She compiles the content as well as creating graphics for social media platforms.

One of her nominators said, “Her outgoing and positive personality is magnetic to all those she interacts with. Gabby supports students well beyond her job responsibilities to ensure that they always have someone to count on.”

Another nominator said, “Gabby has an impact, both in-person and virtually. She created intentional time, space, and community for incoming students through post-orientation meetups and Instagram Live hangouts. Her service as an Orientation Team Member and fellow Hokie was invaluable to the Class of 2025.”

Another nominator commented on Gabby’s desire to make a difference in the life of her fellow students. She said, “Gabby went out of her way to meet with a transfer student struggling to find his place on-campus. She counseled him on ways to get involved and invited him to attend a football game with her. She could relate to this student in a way no other could and I believe she fundamentally changed his course at VT. She is also systematically helping us change the way we build and promote impactful and memorable experiences for our students. And she does this with humility and a true gratitude for being able to contribute to change on our campus.”

Gabby said, “Ut Prosim is utilizing all the best traits of yourself to give to the community in your everyday life. Finding ways to brighten the society around you is how I see Ut Prosim. I love meeting new people and learning their stories. Everyone is different in so many ways, and I love spending my time learning about how they react to the world around them.”

Gabby is a third-year senior, graduating early and with honors this spring. She is majoring in Communication Science and Social Inquiry with minors in Psychology and Sociology. Next year, she will work in the Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management as their Communications Coordinator – a brand new position in which she will undoubtedly leave her mark.

It is an honor to present the Aspire! Award for EMBRACE UT PROSIM AS A WAY OF LIFE to Gabby Taylor.
