The Aspire! Awards were established in 2011 as a way for us to recognize and celebrate the Virginia Tech students who embody our Aspirations for Student Learning. In 2013, we began to recognize division faculty and staff who live and teach the aspirations in their work. Today we are proud to present the inaugural Alumni Aspire! Award.

This award goes to a Virginia Tech alumnus who represents our hopes for all our students – that they live lives of curiosity, integrity, innovation, leadership, success, fulfillment, and that they continue to embody the university’s motto, Ut Prosim, as a way of life.

We can think of no better recipient than Robert Moser, Virginia Tech class of 1997.

While studying Civil Engineering at one of the premier engineering universities in the world, you might say that Robby devoted his fair share of time to studying. But students learn about more than academics during their time at Virginia Tech, and Robby’s experiences outside-of-the-classroom contributed equally to his development as a leader, his devotion to service, and his dedication to his alma mater.

As a student, Robby was a resident advisor, an orientation leader, president of the German Club, and a student representative to the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors. Today, Robby is President and Chief Executive Officer of Clark Construction Group, LLC, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland. He has been an active alumnus since his graduation, serving as a member of Hokies for Higher Education, the German Club Foundation, the Virginia Tech Alumni Board, the Student Affairs Alumni Advisory Board, and in many other capacities.

As a former student leader himself, Robby and his wife Katy are always ready to help expand opportunities for student leaders involved in the activities of the Student Affairs. Perhaps most importantly, he has returned to campus to speak with students about his leadership experiences. Robby said he is most proud to support Virginia Tech in ways that will ensure others have the same opportunities and experiences he was granted. He is a great friend to our division and to the university. Robby, thank you for all you have done to further our work, and for letting our students see that leadership and service continue after graduation. We look forward to our continued work together to benefit the students of Virginia Tech.

On behalf of Student Affairs, it is my honor to present the 2015 Alumni Aspire! Award for EMBRACING UT PROSIM AS A WAY OF LIFE to Robby Moser.
