“Civility is best tested in adverse situations,” said Grant Klich’s nominator. As a Founding Father of Delta Chi at Virginia Tech and the fraternity’s first Scholarship Chair, Grant provided career workshops, seminars, study hours, one-on-one meetings, and study plans for students at risk of doing poorly in their classes. And he had his share of tough conversations. But he always kept an open mind, listened, and set the foundation to ensure students' success.

“This dedication to the success of his peers demonstrates not only Ut Prosim, but also civility,” said his nominator. “He makes people feel like their voices are important.”

Grant said, “Civility will not go unnoticed. Civil behavior reflects greatly on yourself and the organizations you are representing. Delta Chi is full of quality guys doing fraternity in a very fresh way, eliminating the stigma and stereotypes. I'm very proud of the reputation our chapter has built over our first two years.”

A computer science major whose passion is software development, Grant’s internships and jobs have given him the opportunity to use this talent to make people’s lives easier.

Grant also pushed himself out of his comfort zone to perform stand-up comedy. By doing so, he met other comics and became active as secretary in the Comedy Conglomerate. “Just trying this one big thing opened up a brand new path in my life,” Grant said.

For bringing a welcoming attitude every time you talk to someone, and for your efforts to ensure other students’ academic success, I am proud to present the Aspire Award for CIVILITY to Grant Klich.
